Toronto's Fiercest Salsa Band Coming To The Turners Club

Cache' is coming to the East Erie Turners, 829 Parade St. on Saturday Sept 18th at 8:00 pm for their first US appearance. With original songs and a unique sound, Caché is one of the leading bands of the Latin Scene and has received the "Best Latin Alternative Band of the Year" - INDIES, "Best Instrumental CD" - TIMA and "Featured Latin Artist" - New Music Series, among others.

Caché was formed in December 2001 by a group of professional musicians committed to the development of original material that, they believe makes Salsa an urban expression of many Latin Cultures.

The band has 2 CDS - Blended and Toronto Sessions and has been guest in various compilations and collection Salsa CD's. Their last CD was produced in January 2007 and is now being listed and played in Canada, the U.S., England, Colombia, Italy and Hawaii. Caché will launch a third CD in the fall of 2009.

The band is formed by musicians with a variety of ethnic backgrounds: Canada, Colombia, Venezuela, Italy and Cuba. A combination that has created its unique sound with the groove of Latin music, a touch of jazz in a few melodies and an upbeat and energetic show

Tickets will be sold at East Erie Turners. The tickets will also be sold at Zoom Wireless, 113 West 18th St, Erie, PA.

CD Review:  Willie Nelson, American Classic

By Nathan Rabin, www.avclub.com

A towering icon with nothing left to prove, Willie Nelson spends much of his time these days revisiting his back pages, reworking beloved old songs in new idioms and collaborating with whoever the hell he feels like, whether it’s Wynton Marsalis or Asleep At The Wheel.

Now Nelson has hooked up with legendary jazz label Blue Note for the appealingly understated American Classic, another Stardust-like ramble through the American songbook. As his voice devolves evermore into a raspy croak, Nelson has learned to work with and around his limitations: His inimitable croon is as comforting and familiar as a worn-out pair of leather cowboy boots, and his skills as an interpreter of standards remains sharp.

On the beauty-and-the-beast duet “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” the album’s standout track, the smoky glamour of guest vocalist Norah Jones perfectly complements Nelson’s casual delivery, which hovers comfortably between talking and singing.

Elsewhere, Nelson delivers a sly, naughty-but-nice take on “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and re-imagines “Always On My Mind” as upscale piano-bar fodder. Where 1978’s seminal Stardust was a major statement about the timeless power of a great song, the self-consciously minor American Classic is more of a breezy, diverting aside.

SingerUniverse Singing Contest Deadline Drawing Near

The SingerUniverse "Best Vocalist Of The Month" Competition honors and publicizes the top vocalists who submit each month. This competition not only spotlights the winning singer, but also showcases the Top Five new vocalist recordings/demos that we hear each month. Many A&R label execs, producers, managers and booking agents check out the winning songs each month.

The winning vocalist will be interviewed for a very positive, feature article in our popular online magazine SingerUniverse. The article will include a photo of the winner, streaming audio of the winning song, plus a link to the singer's website and e-mail address. The winning vocalist (plus his or her photo) will be announced on the front, home page of the SingerUniverse site. In addition, the four other finalist demos will be spotlighted on the same article page, with the names of the finalists, streaming audio of their songs, their photos, plus their website and e-mail links. Notably, both the winner and four other finalists will also receive prizes (please see below).

Each "Best Vocalist Of The Month" article will remain online indefinitely, so that the article can be read (and their songs heard) for many months to come. Our objective is to not only honor the winning vocalists when they first win, but to continually help expose and promote them via our website.
