Lakes Film Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
The Internal Revenue Service Code 501(c)(3), under which most
nonprofits are registered, prohibits them from partisan
political activities. It also limits nonprofits’
expenditures to influence legislation through lobbying to an
“insubstantial” portion of an agency’s budget. But legal
experts say these don’t constitute a ban on free speech.

Holy Trinity’s Zabawa To Be Held This Weekend
Zabawa (pronounced zah – bah- vah) is a Polish word meaning a time to relax and to enjoy with family and friends.
It was an appropriate word to choose in describing what takes place each year here at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church during the fourth weekend of August. Zabawa is our summer festival. And it has been taking place on the fourth weekend of August for fifteen years.
Now in its sixteenth year, it has earned the well-deserved reputation as being Erie’s premier east side summer event. And why not? Where else can one taste authentic Polish food – all homemade from our coveted family recipes? Or taste piwo (that’s Polish for “beer”) imported directly from Poland? And let’s not overlook listening to non-stop live Polka music featuring the very best of Polka bands from throughout this region of the United States . . . and some even from Canada.
But these are only some of the attractions that pull people in from as far away as Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. To be sure, Zabawa is a three-day event, jam packed with fun and activity. And it all takes place right at Holy Trinity located at 23rd and Reed Street.
Oh, and did we mention the two Polka Masses? Henny and the Versa Js of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania will play at Saturday’s 5 PM Polka Mass. The Knewz from Buffalo, New York will be featured at Sunday’s 11 AM Polka Mass.
Both bands will play throughout Zabawa along with the DynaBrass from Michigan and our very own MarVels from Erie.
You don’t have to be Polish to enjoy Zabawa. You only need to want to have a good time.

PWR Returns To The Cauley Auditorium
By Rob Taylor
Last month mammoth wrestler Shane Taylor was cheated out of the PWR Heavyweight Title after he defeated current champion Big Time Bill Collier. Yes, Collier was pinned but PWR bad guy J-Roc took over the job of ringing the bell to end the match, ringing it seconds early to deny Taylor the title. This month they will hold a rematch in a table match where there will be tables placed around the ring that may, and most likely will, be used as weapons during the match.
Also a battle between Titusville police officer and wrestler Luscious Rocky Reynolds, who is STILL walking around with a crutch, and John McChesney started with one of the most violent matches in PWR history. McChesney won the match but Reynolds had such a fit outside the ring he was given a rematch this month.
Other wresters appearing on August 22nd will be Angel Dust, Real Smooth, “Omega” Aaron Draven and PWR just announced the return of one of the star’s of the film “The Wrestler”…The Necro Butcher…who will be competing in a match against an unannounced wrestler.
The PWR event will be held on August 22nd, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cauley Auditorium which is located at 215 East 4th St. in Erie. However for those of you interested in traveling to the Crawford County Fair, PWR will also be performing a free show at the fair and their announcement said that they were planning some major matches for the Crawford County show.
Tickets for the Cauley show are:
$12 - Reserved Front Row (All Ages)
$10 - Adult General Admission
$5 - Child (15 & Younger)
$5 - High School or College Student (ID Required)
Writer’s note: I was at the match last month and was verbally attacked by Rocky Reynolds who challenged me to a fight and then hid behind security guards and ran back to the dressing room…here is a message to Reynolds. I am going to be there Saturday night…right in the front row and you come after me again…I will not back down from a wannabe crossing guard. You can hide behind your security, you can use a crutch as a weapon…I will still be there.
